Here are step by step instructions on how to download any video from YouTube.com (this also works for most other sites that have video that you want to download).

This method of download video from websites that try to prevent it requires no software, extensions or third party apps of any kind.

🧾 Download Video Directly from YouTube w/o Installing Software Chrome

1. Go to the page in Google Chrome that has the video you want to download.
2. Play the video. If the video starts playing an advertisement first, ensure the advertisement has stopped and the actual video you want to download is playing. This ensures that the video you want to download is in memory.
3. Press F12 on your keyboard. This will bring up the developer tools panel.
4. Click on the icon at the very top of the developers window in Chrome that looks like a little mobile phone. When you put your mouse over the icon you will see the pop up or tooltip text that reads Toggle Device Toolbar. Alternately, you can press CTRL + SHIFT + M on your keyboard.
5. In the browser window where the video you want to download is, towards the top of the page, click on the dropdown that lets you select the device you want to emulate in Google Chrome. Select one of the Iphones.
6. Press F5 on the keyboard to refresh the Google Chrome browser with these new settings.
7. Make sure the video is playing.
8. If you are using the YouTube Video Downloader Bookmarklet to download your video, click the Bookmarklet, otherwise, continue with the instructions below.

At this point there are 3 different methods to get at and download the video you want.

Method #1 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Google Chrome:

1. Go to the Download YouTube Video Bookmarklet page to get the free extension to download videos.
2. Click on the Download YouTube Video bookmarklet which will cause the video to open up in a new tab in your web browser.
3. Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on Save Video as.

Method #2 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Google Chrome:

1. Click the Elements tab in the developers window and press CTRL + F on the keyboard which will bring up the search utility for the developers window.
2. In the search box type <video.
3. The source code for the video you want to download should be highlighted. Look within the video code for where it reads src=". There should be a big long url there starting with http. This is the URL of the video you wish to download.
4. Double click on the URL to select the URL.
5. Press CTRL + C on the keyboard to copy the video URL to your computers clipboard.
6. Open any web browser tab and paste the URL into the web browsers address bar to load the video.
7. Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on Save Video as.

Method #3 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Google Chrome:

1. In the developers toolbar, click the Network tab.
2. In the text box that has the word Filter in it enter the word video(if you don't see this text box press CTRL + F on the keyboard) and press the ENTER key on the keyboard.
3. Double click any of the listings that start with videoplayback?expire=. This will open the video in a seperate Chrome tab.
4. Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on Save Video as.
