Here are step by step instructions on how to download any video from YouTube.com (or almost any other website with video) using the Internet Explorer web browser, without having to use any software or web browser extensions.

- Go to the page that has the video you want to download directly without software.
- Press to begin the playing of the video. If there are any advertisements that play first you must first bypass them so the actual video you wish to download has begun playing and continues playing during this download process. This ensures that the video is in memory.
- Press F12 on your keyboard. This will bring up the developer tools panel.
- Click on the tab with the text
Emulation. - Click the dropdown box for
Browser Profile and select Windows Phone (apparently, Microsoft has not heard of Iphone yet. If the Internet Explorer web browser was a kid going to school, it would definitely be riding the short bus). - For
User Agent String select either Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 7. - For the
Resolution dropdown, select the smallest possible screen size. Again, we want to trick YouTube or wherever we are download the video into thinking we are visiting them from a mobile phone. - Press
F5 on your keyboard to refresh the browser with the new emulation settings. - Make sure the video is playing after the page has refreshed.
- If you are using the YouTube Video Downloader Bookmarklet to download your video, click the Bookmarklet, otherwise, continue with the instructions below.
At this point there are 2 different methods to get at and download the video you want.
Method #1 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Internet Explorer:
- Go to the Download YouTube Video Bookmarklet page to get the free extension to download videos.
- Click on the Download YouTube Video bookmarklet which will cause the video to open up in a new tab in your web browser.
- Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on
Save Video as.
Method #2 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Internet Explorer:
- Press the
DOM Explorer tab. - Press
CTRL + F on the keyboard to bring up the developers windows search text box. - In the developer toolbar search box, which should be to the right, type in
<video and press the ENTER key on your keyboard. - In the DOM Explorer window to the left, the video you want to download should be highlighted. Look within the video code for where it reads
src=". There should be a big long url there starting with http. This is the URL of the video you wish to download. - Double click on the URL to select the URL.
- Press
CTRL + C on the keyboard to copy the video URL to your computers clipboard. - Open any web browser tab and paste the URL into the web browsers address bar to load the video.
- Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on
Save Video as.
