To download any video from YouTube and other video sites without any software or app in the Firefox web browser:
- Open the web page in Mozilla Firefox that has the video you want to download.
- Play the video. If there are any ads that play first, make sure the advertisement has finished or has been dismissed so the actual video we wish to download is playing. This ensures that the video you want to download is in memory.
- Press
F12 on your keyboard. This will bring up the developer window in Firefox. - Look for the icon that looks like a little mobile phone at the top right of the developers window. When you hover your mouse over this icon you will see the pop up text that reads
Responsive Design Mode OR you can press CTRL + SHIFT + M on the keyboard. - Select one of the Iphone emulations. Refer to the images below for clarity.
- Press
F5 on the keyboard to refresh the Firefox browser with these new settings. - Make sure the video you want to download is playing.
- If you are using the YouTube Video Downloader Bookmarklet to download your video, click the Bookmarklet, otherwise, continue with the instructions below.
At this point there are 3 different methods to get at and download the video you want.
Method#1 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Mozilla Firefox:
- Go to the YouTube Video Downloader Bookmarklet page to get the free extension to download videos.
- Click on the Download YouTube Video bookmarklet which will cause the video to open up in a new tab in your web browser.
- Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on
Save Video as.
Method#2 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Mozilla Firefox:
- Right click on the video to bring up a context menu.
- Click
Inspect menu item. - In the developers window source code, look for where it reads
<div class="html5-video-container". - Click the arrow to the left to expand that. You should now see
<video class=". - Within the video source code look for where it reads
src=". - With your mouse, select the entire long URL between the two quotation marks
" that contain the URL of the video you want to download. - Press
CTRL + C on the keyboard to copy the video URL to your computers clipboard. - Open any web browser tab and paste the URL into the web browsers address bar to load the video.
- Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on
Save Video as.
Method#3 to Continue with Download of YouTube Video in Mozilla Firefox:
- In the developers toolbar, click the
Network tab. - In the text box that has the word
Filter URLs in it (if you don't see this text box press CTRL + F on the keyboard) type videoplayback?expire=. - Double click any of the listings that start with
videoplayback?expire=. This will open the video in a seperate Firefox tab. - Right click on the video and from the pop up context menu click on
Save Video as.
