00:01 In this video I'm going to give you a few tips to help you find the right keyword phrases or tags the target for you YouTube video uploads.
00:11 A lot of people when they think about tags they should use for their YouTube videos they only focus on YouTube and the search results on YouTube but you have to remember a big provider of your traffic to your YouTube videos is going to be Google search.
00:26 Concentrate on tags or keyword phrases that get some videos that appear in Google search but you don't want to have too many video results on Google search and you don't want to have no video result on Google search either. Generally speaking, you want, when your keyword phrase that you're targeting your video for, when that keyword phrase is searched in Google, anywhere between 1 - 3 YouTube video results should appear on the first page of Google. That's a good keyword phrase to target.
00:54 What I mean by that is for example, let us say you were to search Google for the Declaration of Independence PDF. I don't think anybody in the world's going to be making a video about this topic but for demonstration purposes, there are certain keyword phrases that Google's going to say for this keyword phrase a video is not appropriate. A video is not going to help the searcher and this is the perfect example. There's not one video on the first page of Google. Now if you think you have a keyword that's totally untapped, undiscovered and it's a magic keyword phrase and you're YouTube video is going to appear on the first page of Google - hey if you really believe in yourself go for it, But the fact that there are absolutely no video results on the first page of Google for that tag or keyword phrase, probably a keyword phrase to steer away from.
01:42 Now an example of a keyword phrase with too many videos on the first page of Google how to swing a baseball bat. Not right off the top of your first result is a YouTube video. Scroll down and there are more videos. For this example, Google is pretty much saturated with videos already. Like I said, the magic number seems to be somewhere between 1 and 3 videos on the first page of Google for a tag or keyword phrase and this already has 4 videos so I would steer clear of it.
02:06 To increase your chances of your video showing up on the first page of Google, sometimes within minutes of posting that video, make sure you include the exact keyword phrase or tag you're trying to target in the videos title, the videos tags and the video's description and name the video file that you're going to upload to Youtube using that exact keyword phrase for the file name as well.
