My Personal Experience with Altice Mobile Cell Phone Service
My personal experience with Altice Mobile was horrible enough that I was only a customer for 2 days.
I originally went into an Optimum store in Litchfield CT to cancel my cable TV service because I had just switched to Dish Network. While I was waiting for the customer service rep to take care of me, I saw the signs in the store that said Altice Mobile Cell Phone Service as little as $12 per month. I am currently with Cricket Wireless paying $35 per month, but Altice's claim of just $12 per month caught my attention.
I told the Optimum store rep that it was important that I keep my number. He assured me this would not be an issue. Well it turned out to be a HUGE issue! To make a long story short, even though the Optimum rep had signed me up with Altice Mobile Cell Phone Service, assuring me my current phone number would be ported over in 48 hours or less, it never happened.
I had to call Altice Mobile Cell Phone Service multiple times to try to resolve this issue and nobody there seemed to know what the heck was going on or what to do. As usual today, when you call you are on hold for a long time while really annoying music plays in the background. (Would you believe that only recently, prior to my signing up with Altice Mobile that Altice Mobile did not even have a phone number ??!!! That should have been my cue).
When I went back to Optimum to return my new Altice Mobile android phone and cancel the cell phone service because of all the issues that were already occurring, the Optimum rep told me they could not do anything and that I would have to deal with Altice directly, which as previously mentioned, was less than fun.
Even the Optimum store rep knew that the Altice Mobile Cell Phone Service was questionable because he recommended I cancel my credit card because he already had experienced through other customers multiple times when Altice Mobile continues making charges on peoples credit card when they should not be!
In the end, for the 2 days that I had the cell phone service, even though Altice Mobile KNEW they did not port my number as requested and I was not happy, they still charged me $37!! Legally speaking, any business contract can be canceled with absolutely NO financial obligations as long as it is done within 3 business days. I did not fight it though because I did not want to take a chance my credit score would be negatively impacted.
