Malwarebytes is one of the easiest PC security software program to work with, in terms of setting exceptions and whitelisting falsely flagged files or software programs. Seems to be pretty good at having a low percentage of false positives as well.

To instruct Malwarebytes to leave a file or program alone ...

  1. Double click the Malwarebytes system tray icon to make the software program window become visible.
  2. Click on the ⚙ Settings tab.
  3. Click on the Exclusions tab.
  4. Click on the Button with the text Add Exclusion. This will take you to a pane where you tell Malwarebytes the type of exclusions you want to set.
  5. Tick the option button with the text Exclude a File or Folder.
  6. Click the button with the text Next.
  7. Click the button with the text Select Files ....
  8. After you have seleted the file you wish to exclude/whitelist, click the OK button.
